Summer Projects: Cost, Dates, Locations

This year, FOCUS will host Summer Projects in the following locations:  

Napa Valley, CA

This location partners with the Meritage Resort in Napa, CA. Students will be paid in accord with normal Meritage pay schedules. Most jobs are in hospitality with a limited number of exceptions. Food and lodging are provided. As for dates, students will come in two waves. The first wave of students will contract to work June 1st through August 10th. The second group will contract to work June 28th – September 15. Both groups will include 15 students, to this location will host 30 students in total.

Huguenot, NY

This location partners with New York City’s YMCA Camp in Huguenot, NY. Students will be paid in accord with normal YMCA pay schedules. The YMCA offers a wide array of jobs all pertinent to the running of a vibrant, successful summer camp. Food and lodging are provided. As for dates, students will contract to work June 3 – August 21, but some students may need to arrive early for additional training. This location will host 50 students.

Boyne Mountain, MI

This location partners with Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, MI. Students will be paid in accord with normal Boyne Mountain pay schedules. Most jobs are in hospitality with a limited number of exceptions. Lodging is provided including a kitchen, and students will be compensated more than enough to cover food costs. As for dates, students will contract to work June 1 – August 10. This location will host 60 students.

Denver, CO

Jobs for this location are coordinated through FOCUS Denver Support Center and FOCUS Varsity Catholic. Student compensation amounts will vary in accord with contract. Lodging is provided including a kitchen, and students will be compensated more than enough to cover food costs. Dates will vary in accord with student contract, but students should expect to work the majority of the months of June and July. This location will host 25 students.

Bay Harbor, MI

This location partners with the Inn at Bay Harbor in Bay Harbor, MI. Students will be paid in accord with normal Bay Harbor pay schedules. Most jobs are in hospitality with a limited number of exceptions. Lodging is provided including a kitchen, and students will be compensated more than enough to cover food costs. Lodging for this location is in Boyne Falls, MI (same facility as Boyne Mountain). As for dates, students will contract to work June 1 – August 10. This location will host 40 students.

Harbor Springs, MI

This location partners with Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, MI. Students will be paid in accord with normal Boyne Highlands pay schedules. Most jobs are in hospitality with a limited number of exceptions. Lodging is provided including a kitchen, and students will be compensated more than enough to cover food costs. As for dates, students will contract to work June 1 – August 10. This location will host 50 students.

Colorado Springs, CO

This location partners with the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, CO. Students will be paid in accord with normal Broadmoor pay schedules. Most jobs are in hospitality with a limited number of exceptions. Lodging is provided including a kitchen, and students will be compensated more than enough to cover food costs. As for dates, students will contract to work June 1 – August 10. This location will host 80 students.

Jackson Lake, CA

This location partners with Camp Lolek in Jackson Lake, CA (just outside Wrightwood). Students will be given a stipend of $2,500. Camp Lolek offers a wide array of jobs all pertinent to the running of a vibrant, successful summer camp. Further, this is our FOCUS most “missional” Summer Project. That is, jobs at this location are specifically oriented to advancing the gospel by building young men and women in the faith. Camp Lolek is a Catholic summer camp grounded in the thought of Pope Saint John Paul II. Food and lodging are provided. As for dates, students will contract to work June 1 – August 10. This location will host 20 students.


Students are free to request a location, but no location is guaranteed. FOCUS will do its best to honor requests, but final decisions concerning locations will not be given until students are accepted, and those decisions are final. 

COST: Students must fundraise $2,600 to participate, which covers the cost of the formation program. Once you’re accepted into the program, you’ll be contacted by a missionary Fundraising Coach who will help you raise the amount needed. (Students also receive pay from the contracted businesses for their work throughout the summer.)
