Under communist rule, the practice of Christianity was illegal in Russia. Now, following the post-Cold War era, the people of Russia are still recovering from oppression. Come bring the hope of Christ to them on this summer mission trip!

On this mission you will catechize the youth of Russia who are longing for a Christ-like example of love and mercy. We will be working with an American priest who has been in Russia for an extended period of time.  He has helped found an order of priests to minister in Russia and plays a key effort in re-evangelizing the post-communist community in Eastern Russia. Fr. The parish feeds meals to 40 - 50 children from single-family homes each week. Most of these children reside in Soviet-style single room apartments with their parents.

The mission is to put on a summer youth camp for the children, showing them what it truly means to live a joyful life. In addition to running a camp for the youth, we will also volunteer at an orphanage and a hospice. Come impact the future of Russia by ministering to the youth on this FOCUS Mission!

  1. Each FOCUS Missions participant has the opportunity to fundraise the entire cost of their mission trip. Consider that fundraising allows people who may not have the opportunity to travel on a mission trip to participate in this essential work through you. In another sense, “some give by going, while others go by giving.” Allowing others to support us through their financial commitments and prayers is essential to the success of FOCUS Missions!
  2. After you have been accepted on a mission trip, you will be contacted by your personal fundraising coach who will train and mentor you along the way.
  3. Please feel free to contact us at any time by phone or email with your fundraising questions.

“This mission gave me a greater understanding of what it means to be human, and a deeper understanding of love. We worked with the neglected elderly and orphans in Vladivostok, who have no one to defend their dignity and no one to show them love, and with the children of the poorest and dirtiest neighborhoods, who longed for attention and meaning. In their pain, suffering, and neglect, we encountered the passion of Christ, and He taught us that His love transcends language, it fulfills all longings, and it overcomes all weaknesses. In the chaos and brokenness of Russia, we found the light of Christ reaching out and overwhelming the darkness.”

“I was uncertain about God’s desire to have me in Russia until we stepped off the plane in Vladivostok; the fundraising and paperwork were rough, and I didn’t think it would work out. But ultimately, God used the entire mission trip as a lesson in reliance on Him: the faith of the parishioners we met was incredible, and the Sisters are incredible, and the love of the kids we worked with is incredible. Everything about Russia astounded me with how carefully God used it to work on my heart, and I am forever changed as a result.”
