The mission of the Formation Department is to help staff and students imitate Jesus Christ, live the fullness of the Catholic faith, and lead others to do the same.

My husband and I have served as FOCUS missionaries since 2014. We got married in 2016 and have since been blessed with four children, one in heaven, two boys, now 6 and 4, and an 1 year old girl.  We served campuses in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Maine before I joined FOCUS’ Formation team. The Formation team is composed of the missionaries within FOCUS who are responsible for the training and formation of all the other missionaries.

We form hundreds of new missionaries every year and send them to college campuses, parishes, and work sites all over the world. We also produce resources for missionaries, students, parishioners, and the wider Church such as Bible studies, discipleship training, and weekly blog posts, articles, and newsletters. Steven and I now live in Toledo, Ohio, seeking to spread the Gospel in our parish while I also work internationally to help train over 1,000 missionaries who are sent to over 200 locations in over 40 states and 6 countries.

I love being a part of the Formation Department and every day it is such a joy to serve FOCUS’ missionaries and grow in love of the Lord and each other!

Amber: I grew up on a farm outside the Village of Pleasant Hill in southwestern Ohio with my parents and one older brother. I came to northwest Ohio for college, and it was here that I was first introduced to the beauty, the truth, and the goodness of the Catholic Church. I had always found a friend in Jesus and I began to find so much more. I set my eyes on becoming a saint and my life hasn’t been the same since. With one adventure after another, I wouldn’t give up this journey for the world.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.   Your work, prayers, and support are so critical to this mission. When we answered the call to join FOCUS, we made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to make our mission possible. We’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with us as we serve on campus. Most of our team consists of individuals, couples, families, or parishes that donate anything from $10-$300 a month (or the equivalent quarterly or annually). Without them, as well as the many people who give special gifts as they are able, we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do.
